Fury’s Plan for Victory: A Knockout is a Must

Tyson Fury is resolute in his belief that he must knock out Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming rematch, asserting that the judges won’t side with him after their contentious first bout. Despite losing by split decision on May 18, Fury is confident and ready for the December 21 showdown in Saudi Arabia.

Controversial Split Decision: Fury’s Take on the Judges

In their previous fight, Usyk won with scores of 115-112 and 114-113 from two judges, while the third judge scored it 114-113 for Fury. Usyk’s victory allowed him to claim Fury’s WBC belt, making him the undisputed heavyweight champion. Fury, however, remains adamant that he was the rightful winner and blames the judges for the loss.

“I Won the Fight”: Fury’s Post-Fight Reflections

Reflecting on the first fight, Fury insists he should have been declared the winner. He attributes his loss to his own overconfidence and enjoyment during the match, which he believes led to a critical mistake in the ninth round.

Overconfidence and Enjoyment: The Price of Fun

Fury admitted, “It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be, the Usyk fight, a lot easier. People were saying he’s a hard man to hit, but I was lighting him up with three and four punch combinations, laughing at him. My problem in that fight was probably that I had too much fun, it was too easy.”

Critical Ninth Round: The Turning Point

Fury acknowledged that his playful approach backfired in the ninth round when he received a 10-8 score after being clipped. “At times it was too easy – it was like I was in there with a local amateur boxer and I was enjoying it too much and messing around and I paid the ultimate price,” Fury explained.

The Lesson Learned: Fun vs. Focus

“They’ve always told me: never mix your work with having fun,” Fury lamented, reflecting on the lesson he learned from the fight. “And I’ve always given them the middle finger and now it’s come back to me. But still, I enjoyed it, it was all good.”

Preparing for the Rematch: December 21 in Saudi Arabia

Fury is now focused on the rematch, scheduled for December 21 in Saudi Arabia. Despite the loss, he remains optimistic and is gearing up for what he describes as a “Christmas extravaganza.”

Usyk’s Recovery: A Challenge Ahead

Fury addressed Usyk directly, acknowledging the injuries Usyk sustained. “Get yourself well – I hear he’s got a broken jaw and eye socket, so get yourself well and I’ll see you in December,” Fury said, underscoring his anticipation for their next encounter.

The Path to Victory: A Knockout Strategy

Fury’s strategy for the rematch is clear: he needs a knockout to secure victory. “I’ve got to get him out of there, because I’m not going to get a decision, which is unfortunate,” he stated, expressing his determination to avoid another close decision by the judges.

Confidence and Challenge: Fury’s Final Words

“I’m confident and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Fury concluded, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense and highly anticipated rematch.
