Ryan Garcia Faces Backlash After Dragging Devin Haney’s Mother in Social Media Spat
In the world of boxing, tensions often run high, but Ryan Garcia’s recent actions on social media have ignited a firestorm of controversy. Just days before the results of his B-sample for a doping test are revealed, Garcia embroiled himself in a heated exchange with his rival Devin Haney, crossing a line by bringing Haney’s mother into the fray.
The altercation began when a fan tweeted about the possibility of Haney’s recent loss being overturned if Garcia’s B-sample results return positive. Haney responded to the tweet with a simple “Lmao,” which seemed to set Garcia off. “Bruh shut the fk up before I hit you with another left hook bch,” Garcia replied, referencing his signature move that had embarrassed Haney in their last match.
Garcia didn’t stop there. He took the insult further by tweeting, “Your mom fainted when I dropped you,” a move that many fans and critics alike saw as a step too far. Haney, not one to back down, retorted by mocking Garcia’s doping allegations: “The regular one or the Ostarine one?”
The exchange continued to escalate, with Garcia tweeting, “I want Devin’s momma.” Shortly after this inflammatory comment, Garcia attempted to backpedal by claiming his account had been hacked: “Bruh someone hacked me.” However, this claim was met with skepticism, as Garcia has a history of attributing controversial tweets to hackers.
Garcia wrote, “Bruh shut the f**k up before I hit you with another left hook b**ch.”
Haney asked, “The regular one or the Ostarine one?” In the following tweet, Garcia wrote, “I want Devin’s momma.” but suggested, “Bruh someone hacked me.”
This incident follows an already tumultuous period for Garcia. He was at the Kingdom Arena just a day prior, witnessing the historic bout between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. His behavior on social media has not only overshadowed his presence at this major event but also put additional scrutiny on his upcoming doping test results, expected on May 22.
The situation took another turn when Bill Haney, Devin Haney’s father, responded to Garcia’s earlier comments about starting his own combat league if suspended. Bill Haney released a video sharply criticizing Garcia, stating, “Ryan Garcia, you are no good for anything in the sport of boxing… you want to start your own league. You really don’t care if you get banned from the sport of boxing.”
He said, “Ryan Garcia, you are no good for anything in the sport of boxing. You come out with four or five days to go, four days away from the PD test, and now you say you want to start your own league. You really don’t care if you get banned from the sport of boxing. Well, I’ll tell you something, Ryan, you and everyone else who needs a fork up there a**, so you can call it the league of fools.” Seeing such a response from Bill, Garcia had to retort immediately! In a tweet dated 19 May, Garcia wrote, “This is getting outta hand… wtf I’m just trying to enjoy my vacation… F**K MAN.”
