“Sean O’Malley Doubts Ryan Garcia’s Mental State Amidst Potential MMA Showdown”
Sean O’Malley’s recent comments regarding a potential MMA showdown with boxing sensation Ryan Garcia have stirred up significant buzz in the combat sports world. Amidst growing concerns about Garcia’s mental health, O’Malley expressed skepticism about the feasibility of such a matchup, hinting at the possibility of pursuing bigger opportunities in boxing instead.
Garcia’s cryptic social media posts and revelations about feeling “taken advantage of” have raised red flags within the combat sports community, leading many to question his readiness for competitive bouts. In response to inquiries about a potential clash with Garcia, O’Malley emphasized the boxer’s mental state, suggesting that he may not be prepared for the rigors of MMA.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, O’Malley addressed the situation candidly, stating, “Mentally, that kid is not where he needs to be.” He expressed doubts about Garcia’s ability to handle the demands of MMA training, casting doubt on the feasibility of the proposed matchup.
‘Sugar’ stated, “Again, I just think that mentally, that kid is not where he needs to be. We’ll see how he looks against Devin Haney and kinda go from there.”
He also confessed that “I feel like a MMA fight is just so unrealistic, there’s 0 percent chance he’d ever even make it to that fight. I mean, it would take him one MMA session, one wrestling day, one jiu jitsu with anybody that knows anything for him to realize, ‘Okay, nevermind, this is a bad idea.’
While O’Malley acknowledged the possibility of a boxing match with Garcia, he questioned the boxer’s readiness for the pressure and scrutiny that accompanies such high-profile events. Despite the uncertainty surrounding a potential showdown, O’Malley remains focused on his own career trajectory, aiming to cement his legacy in combat sports.
Meanwhile, O’Malley’s recent performance at UFC 299 has catapulted him to new heights of stardom within the MMA community. With a dominant victory over Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera, O’Malley defended his bantamweight title and received high praise from UFC CEO Dana White. As O’Malley’s star continues to rise, he remains a formidable presence in the world of mixed martial arts, poised for further success in the octagon.
He ended by stating, “Floyd’s still running around the boxing room so, I keep going out there and doing what I’m doing, I might skip Ryan, I might skip Gervonta and go straight to the big dawg.”
White stated, “He’s the biggest star ever in bantamweight history. We can say that right now.”
