Muhammad Ali’s 8th Death Anniversary: An Emotional Tribute from Boxing’s Greatest Family

Nico Ali Walsh, Ali’s grandson and a professional boxer, also took to social media to honor his grandfather, sharing images and videos of Ali with the caption, “8 years ago today. Long Live the King.”

The official Muhammad Ali Instagram account, dedicated to preserving his legacy, commemorated the day with a message: “Today, we commemorate and pay tribute to the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of the legendary Muhammad Ali.”

 

“Eight years ago today, I lost my Buddy and Father. I miss you every day, but your legacy continues to inspire us.”

Ali’s life after retirement

Ali retired from boxing in 1981, leaving an unparalleled legacy in the sport. But his influence extended beyond the ring. He blessed his humanitarian efforts to promote peace and social justice with his name. Ali’s extensive travels allowed him to speak on a variety of topics and support numerous charities.

One of Ali’s most notable contributions was his role in negotiating the release of 15 American soldiers held hostage in Iraq in 1990. He also consistently spoke out against injustice, including the plight of the Palestinians, and was frequently critical of the US. programs in the Middle East.
