Boxing Rankings See Daniel Dubois Rise: What Does the British Heavyweight Look Like Next?

Daniel Dubois destroyed Anthony Joshua in the fifth round, setting off a historic event that completely changed the boxing world and elevated him to a dominant position. Dubois, who is only 27 years old, has risen to the third spot in the Boxing News world rankings, behind only two of the heavyweight division’s titans, Tyson Fury and Alexander Usyk. After the fight, both fans and experts are curious about Dubois’s future plans: would he pursue a rematch with Usyk or pursue a different route to the heavyweight title?

Dubois’s Abrupt Ascent to the Top

Following Dubois’ unexpected triumph over Joshua, the rankings have significantly changed. In the world rankings, only Usyk and Fury are still ahead of him. Fury and Usyk will face off again on December 21. This means that Dubois has a bright future ahead of him. Usyk, the Ukrainian obstacle that Dubois may have to overcome once more, stopped Dubois in the ninth round of a 2023 fight in Poland. But Dubois is no longer the same boxer. He has amassed a string of remarkable wins since that defeat, including victory over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and most recently, the devastating strike that knocked out Anthony Joshua.

The Low Blow Debate and Atonement

The controversy around a purported low blow that had the potential to change the entire nature of the fight still surrounds the bout against Usyk. Even though Usyk won the case, Dubois fuelled his unrelenting ascent by utilising the controversy to his advantage. Not only did he silence sceptics but he demonstrated his desire for atonement by knocking out Joshua. If Usyk prevails over Fury in their forthcoming rematch, Dubois’s next opponent appears all but certain. A lot of admirers would love to see if the dominant British company could turn history around.

What Happens If Anger Triumphs?

If Tyson Fury prevails in the rematch with Usyk, the heavyweight class as a whole might be rocked. Fury, who is well-known for his personality and unpredictable style both inside and outside the ring, may choose to hang up his gloves for good or pursue a third fight with Usyk. If Fury prevails over Usyk and decides to step down, it may allow a new wave of formidable fighters to challenge for the vacant title. In this hypothetical situation, Dubois would be squarely in the thick of things, confidently vying for the unchallenged heavyweight title.

Anthony Joshua’s Departure from Honour

Conversely, Anthony Joshua’s reputation has plummeted following his heartbreaking defeat to Dubois. It’s difficult for a boxer who was once the heavyweight division’s golden boy to accept that the former heavyweight champion is currently ranked lower than both Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker according to Boxing News. Parker had previously lost against Joshua, but things have since turned around, and Parker appears to be invigorated. Zhang is also a man on a mission; there are rumours circulating that the southpaw Chinese player may soon take on the formidable Martin Bakole, who is presently rated ninth.

The fighters in queue for the heavyweight shuffle

Fighters competing for place include Agit Kabayel, Deontay Wilder, and Filip Hrgovic as the heavyweight division changes. The seventh-ranked Kabayel is considering a fight with Joseph Parker, which has the potential to propel him to the top of the category. Former WBC champion Wilder is perilously positioned at number nine, while Dubois has already eliminated Hrgovic, who is hovering around eighth. Although it’s difficult to imagine anyone stopping Dubois’s momentum following his impressive performance against Joshua, these boxers represent the next generation of opponents that could get in his way.

What Happens to Dubois Next?

Dubois is ready for another bout that might define his career with his improved rating and freshfound energy. The route ahead for Dubois is obvious: he is one of the most intriguing and dangerous fighters in the heavyweight class right now, regardless of whether he chooses to fight Usyk again, wait to find out the result of the Fury-Usyk bout, or take on another top-ranked opponent. The boxing world has taken notice of him due to his unwavering power and unwavering commitment, and fans are excitedly anticipating his next move.

In his subsequent bout, will he win the heavyweight title, or will he have to pass another test before reaching the top? Daniel Dubois is prepared to make his mark as heavyweight boxing’s next star, that much is clear.
