Michael Bisping Offers Insights on Sean O’Malley’s Troubles Amidst Ryan Garcia’s PED Controversy Resolution
The saga surrounding Ryan Garcia’s alleged PED usage sent shockwaves through the combat sports world, with accusations flying and tensions running high. However, amidst the chaos, UFC legend Michael Bisping stepped forward to shed light on another fighter caught in the crossfire – Sean O’Malley.
In a recent episode of his YouTube channel, Bisping revealed insights gleaned from a conversation with Jeff Novitzky, the Senior Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance for the UFC. Initially skeptical about claims of contaminated supplements causing failed drug tests, Bisping’s perspective shifted after speaking with Novitzky.
Although he previously believed that it was nothing but “bull***”, his view changed following a conversation with Novitzky. “I was talking to him on that and he kind of made me think differently.”
Recalling the conversation, Bisping outlined how manufacturing processes in the supplement industry often lead to contamination due to inadequate cleaning of machinery between production runs. This revelation opened Bisping’s eyes to the possibility that O’Malley’s failed drug test may have been a result of unwittingly ingesting tainted supplements.
Despite his initial skepticism, Bisping came to accept Novitzky’s explanation, acknowledging the prevalence of such contamination within the supplement industry. This newfound understanding prompted Bisping to offer advice to O’Malley, urging him to exercise caution when it comes to supplement intake.
He said, “And he was like, ‘No, Michael trust me. That does happen. And it appears, it happened this time to Sean O’Malley.’”

Novitzky’s defense of athletes testing positive for trace amounts of Ostarine further underscored the complexities of drug testing in sports. In a tweet from 2020, Novitzky highlighted Ostarine’s status as a common contaminant in the supplement industry, emphasizing that trace levels of the compound do not confer any performance-enhancing benefits.
With Ryan Garcia finally cleared of his PED controversy following negative results on his second sample, attention now turns to O’Malley’s ordeal. While Garcia’s resolution may provide some relief, questions linger regarding O’Malley’s innocence amidst the scrutiny he has faced from the fighting community.
As the dust settles on Garcia’s controversy, the spotlight now shines on O’Malley’s troubles, prompting reflection on the broader challenges facing athletes in navigating the complexities of drug testing and supplement usage in the modern sporting landscape.
