Fans Believe “AJ Wipes Fury Out” After Comparing Stats for Oleksandr Usyk’s Fights Against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua
Who did it better? Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua! Back in 2021, ‘AJ’ took on Oleksandr Usyk and lost via unanimous decision. The very next year, the Englishman took another shot at the Ukrainian but lost again. Fast forward to 2024, Usyk defeated ‘The Gypsy King’ via a split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
While Usyk managed to score a knockdown against Fury, against Joshua, no such thing happened! So, in hindsight, AJ might seem better than Fury, right? Or is it the other way around? That was the debate among fans after an X post from IFL TV revealed the side-by-side comparison of the stats between Joshua and Fury during their respective fights against the Ukrainian boxing legend.
Turning to X yesterday, IFL TV compared Joshua’s 2022 fight against Usyk with the Usyk-bout that unfolded last weekend. They highlighted some fascinating numbers. Usyk managed to land precisely the same number of punches (170) against Fury as he did in his rematch against Joshua. However, what’s truly intriguing is that he threw a staggering 305 fewer punches (407) against Fury compared to his showdown with Joshua (712).

Someone else thought Tyson Fury undeniably stole the spotlight, outshining Anthony Joshua, while Oleksandr Usyk continued to display his phenomenal prowess, as expected. However, to get a definitive answer to the Fury-Joshua question, the duo needs to fight it out.

While the previous user sided with Fury, this user seemed to be in Joshua’s corner, as they highlighted Joshua never came close to getting knocked down. Whereas, Fury was knocked down in the ninth round. Notably, knockdowns in a heavyweight fight are a little incidental, not taking away from Usyk’s skills. Plus, Usyk doesn’t really look for knockdowns or knockouts, so it’s hard to say.
