“Shane Mosley Exposes Victor Conte’s Dark Past: Calls for Accountability in Boxing!”
The boxing world is once again embroiled in controversy as the fallout from the Ryan Garcia PED scandal continues to unfold. This time, the spotlight is on Victor Conte, the controversial figure at the center of the storm, as Shane Mosley, Devin Haney’s rival, tears into Conte’s dark past.
Garcia’s recent positive test for performance-enhancing drugs has cast a shadow over his career and reignited scrutiny on Conte’s involvement in the sport. With Garcia pointing fingers at Conte and the Haney camp, Shane Mosley, who has had his own run-ins with controversy involving Conte, has come forward to expose what he perceives as Conte’s shady history.
“He goes from being a BALCO guy to now being the guy that tests for all the drugs, which is crazy to me. It’s crazy, it’s like a conflict of interest.”
Mosley stated, “Just after [Garcia] beat Devin, now he’s a steroid user and now his name is smeared kind of like mine for doing steroids.” Highlighting the real threat Garcia faces of suspension and fine, Mosley implicated Conte for being behind the entire debacle.
Mosley said, “… He might get fined or he might not be able to fight or whatever for a certain length of time because he ‘did steroids.’ That Victor Conte said. And who made him the ambassador for clean boxing?”
“I’m gonna get the belt one more time then I’m moving to bare knuckle fighting. Boxing is just [too] dirty.”
Mosley’s recollections of his own experiences with Conte add fuel to the fire, as he questions how Conte, a former convicted felon associated with the BALCO scandal, has become the face of clean boxing. Mosley’s podcast comments shed light on the conflict of interest inherent in Conte’s role as a testing advocate, given his tainted past.
Conte’s history is riddled with legal troubles, including his involvement in the BALCO steroid scandal, which led to his imprisonment. Mosley himself was embroiled in a defamation lawsuit against Conte, alleging that Conte supplied him with steroids without his knowledge. Despite Mosley’s claims, the case was dismissed, further complicating Conte’s reputation in the boxing world.
In light of Garcia’s predicament, Mosley has openly criticized Conte’s influence in boxing, suggesting that Conte may be orchestrating the controversy surrounding Garcia’s positive test. Mosley’s condemnation of Conte’s involvement raises questions about the integrity of the testing process and the motivations behind Garcia’s alleged doping.
Regis Prograis, another boxer with firsthand experience of Haney’s camp, has also joined the chorus of voices condemning Conte. Prograis, who previously expressed disillusionment with boxing’s dirty tactics, has intensified his criticism of Conte, labeling him a “known cheater” and calling for his expulsion from the sport.
Prograis’ shift in stance, prompted by Mosley’s revelations, underscores the growing skepticism surrounding Conte’s role in boxing. With Haney’s association with Conte’s SNACK Nutrition further complicating matters, Garcia’s accusations against Conte gain credibility in the eyes of many.
As Garcia awaits the results of his B-sample, scheduled to be revealed later this month, the boxing world remains divided over Conte’s culpability and Garcia’s innocence. Mosley’s damning indictment of Conte raises important questions about the integrity of the sport and the need for greater transparency in anti-doping efforts.
