Curmel Moton Slaps Critics With ‘1.8 Million’ Reality Check
Curmel Moton, a young sensation under The Money Team banner, is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about prospects in boxing. Touted as the “Next Floyd Mayweather Jr.,” the teenager carries immense pressure on his shoulders. Despite having just three professional bouts, Moton is already making waves and handling criticism with a maturity beyond his years.
Curmel Moton: The Young Prodigy
At only 18, Curmel Moton has faced his fair share of skeptics. However, he has a strong rebuttal for those who doubt his appeal and influence. With one of his fights amassing 1.8 million views on YouTube, Moton has proven that he has a significant following. This level of attention prompts a compelling question: Can Moton achieve the same pay-per-view (PPV) success as his mentor, Floyd Mayweather?
Training at the Mayweather Gym from a young age, Moton had the privilege of watching the legendary Floyd Mayweather refine his craft. This exposure not only honed his boxing skills but also instilled the confidence required to excel at the highest level.

Rising Through the Ranks
Moton’s latest appearance in the ring was on March 30, during his third professional bout against Anthony Cuba. This fight was part of the PBC-Amazon Prime partnership, featured on the Tim Tszyu–Sebastian Fundora title fight card at T-Mobile Arena. Moton won the super-featherweight bout by unanimous decision, a significant achievement for the young boxer.
In response to critics who claimed that no one watches his fights, Moton highlighted the 1.8 million views his fight generated on YouTube. He confidently addressed his detractors, saying, “Oh and for the ones that say ‘nobody watches my fights’. Like I said, one of the biggest prospects in boxing. 3 fights. 17 at the time.” Such a following for a teenager with only three professional bouts is indeed impressive.
The bout against Cuba was Moton’s first globally televised event. Anthony Cuba, a formerly undefeated prospect who trained with four-weight world champion Leo Santa Cruz, was handed his first career defeat by Moton. Before this, Moton secured first-round knockouts in swing bouts on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo and Demetrius Andrade vs. Davis Benavidez fight cards, defeating Ezequiel Flores and Hunter Turbyfill, respectively.

Training with the Best
Moton’s development has been significantly influenced by sparring with world champions like Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Shakur Stevenson at the Mayweather Gym. The Money Team’s plan for Moton includes becoming a teenage world champion, a feat that seems within reach given his rapid progress. With 18 national championships in the amateur circuit and special permission from the Nevada State Athletic Commission to turn pro at 17, Moton is on a fast track to success.
“Next time, be a man of ya own…lil clown a** ni**g. Don’t forget the reason why you throwing up that ape shit..”
Challenges and Setbacks
However, Moton’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. One notable setback occurred when his association with the Mayweather camp led to his exclusion from a high-profile event. Curmel was set to feature on the Gervonta Davis–Frank Martin main event co-headlined by David Benavidez and Oleksandr Gvozdyk’s light-heavyweight clash on June 15. However, the ongoing feud between Davis and Mayweather resulted in Moton being snubbed from the card.
Davis didn’t hold back his criticism, posting on social media, “Next time, be a man of ya own… lil clown a** ni**a. Don’t forget the reason why you throwing up that ape shit..” This harsh message was a reality check for Moton, highlighting the tensions within the boxing world.
Despite the setback, Moton remained composed and did not include Davis in his top five boxers list, citing Davis’ lack of undisputed status as the reason, rather than any personal vendetta.
The Future for Curmel Moton
Curmel Moton’s story is still unfolding, but his trajectory suggests a bright future. As he continues to prove his critics wrong and build his legacy, the boxing world watches with keen interest. With Mayweather’s mentorship and Moton’s undeniable talent, it’s only a matter of time before he gets his first title shot.
