Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol: Fight of the Year Contender Set to Rock Riyadh – Can Bivol Make History?

In a momentous announcement that has ignited excitement among boxing enthusiasts worldwide, reports have surfaced indicating that the highly anticipated matchup between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol is on the verge of becoming a reality. Set to determine the undisputed 175-pound champion, the bout is poised to take place in the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking a historic milestone for the sport.

According to renowned boxing journalist Dan Rafael, negotiations for the Beterbiev vs. Bivol showdown are progressing smoothly, with the fight tentatively scheduled for June 1. While the bout has yet to be officially confirmed, Rafael’s tweet has sparked fervent anticipation among fans, who eagerly await the clash of titans.

Dmitry Bivol, the current holder of the WBA (super) and IBO light heavyweight titles, recently showcased his dominance in the ring with a commanding victory over Lyndon Arthur at the Day of Reckoning boxing event in Saudi Arabia. Following his triumph, Bivol expressed his ambition to unify the light heavyweight division by facing the winner of the Beterbiev vs. Callum Smith bout.

In a post-fight interview, Bivol reaffirmed his determination to pursue undisputed status, declaring his intention to challenge either Beterbiev or Smith for supremacy in the division. With his sights set on achieving boxing immortality, Bivol’s aspirations resonate with fans and pundits alike, setting the stage for a monumental showdown in the months to come.

He tweeted:

”Per sources, the Beterbiev vs. Bivol undisputed light heavyweight title fight, while not signed yet, has no impediments, and the fight is being planned for June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. #boxing @Turki_alalshikh”

Meanwhile, Artur Beterbiev, the formidable Russian powerhouse, solidified his status as one of the sport’s most dominant champions with a resounding victory over Callum Smith. The knockout artist retained his WBC, WBO, and IBF light heavyweight titles, further cementing his reputation as an unstoppable force in the division.

With both Beterbiev and Bivol poised to put their titles on the line in a clash of epic proportions, anticipation for the matchup continues to build. As fight fans eagerly await further details and official confirmation, the prospect of witnessing two elite fighters go toe-to-toe for undisputed glory in the Kingdom Arena promises to captivate audiences and etch their names in boxing lore.

Bivol, during his in-ring interview following his victory against Arthur at the Day of Reckoning boxing event, declared that he wants to become the undisputed light heavyweight champion by facing the winner of the Beterbiev-Callum Smith fight next.

“I would say that it was good sparring for me. Lyndon, he was in good shape. I’m glad [at] the end of the year I got this fight and now I see my way to my goal. [I want to be] undisputed against the winner of Beterbiev and Smith. I hope this fight will happen in 2024.”
