Arnold Barboza is the first to admit that his performance on Saturday night did not live up to his expectations.

The 32-year-old Southern California native took over from Sean McComb, an 18-1 division pick. The final scores were 97-93, 96-94 and 92-98, with McComb winning.

However, Barboza is now 30-0 and there is no doubt that this victory was deserved.

The 32-year-old has been unsuccessful in challenging the top contenders in the lightweight division for the past few years. He’s always been seen as a risk taker and underpaid, but he hopes this performance will encourage the sector’s leaders to step up to him.

– Yes, it was a very close fight, and I give credit to Sean McComb for that fight, but hopefully the opportunities will open up for me. I will be stronger,” Barbosa told BoxingScene.

What Barboza really wants is Garcia, who shocked much of the boxing world by beating Haney in the main event. Garcia entered the fight as an 8-1 underdog and knocked down Haney three times en route to a majority victory. – The work is amazing. Hats off to Ryan, I’d love to see this match happen. “After a short break I have to sit down to talk to the team and see what happens next.”

The fight will be Barboza’s second under his new promotional deal with Golden Boy Promotions.

Ashley’s thoughts:

Arnold Barbosa had a great challenge against Sean McComb on Saturday night, and the final score reflected a close fight. While McComb won by scores of 97-93, 96-94 and 92-98, Barboza’s undefeated record of 30-0 speaks volumes for his skill and tenacity in the ring.

Barbosa acknowledged the intensity of the fight and praised McComb’s resilience and work ethic. However, Barboza is optimistic that this tough win will pave the way for more opportunities at lightweight. Barboza has long been seen as a disruptive, underrated competitor who needs the attention of the industry’s top brass and the task of facing him in the ring. Barboza is moving forward against Ryan Garcia, who defeated Devin Haney in the boxing world. Barbosa was impressed with Garcia’s performance and expressed his desire to face the rising star, thinking it would be an exciting fight for the fans.

As Barbosa contemplates his career and future plans, he remains committed to his sport. Barboza’s latest victory marks his second fight under a new promotional deal with Golden Boy Promotions, as he prepares to continue his pursuit of challenging one of the division’s top fighters.
