“Time Running Out: Andy Ruiz Jr. Faces Criticism as Fans Fear Career Stagnation!”
The anticipation among fans is palpable as they eagerly await the return of former unified heavyweight champion, Andy ‘The Destroyer’ Ruiz Jr., to the boxing ring. Despite his previous victories over Chris Arreola and Luis Ortiz, Ruiz’s absence from the sport has left many questioning his commitment and determination to reclaim his former glory.
As per the TNT Sports, he said, “I need to get ready. I feel really good. In 2024, we’re coming back. I had surgery on my right shoulder, so I already had two months preparing and recovering. I need two more months and I’ll be ready to go next year.”
Andy Ruiz, Jr will be 35 this year, hasn’t fought in 19 months, & nothing scheduled. He’s wasting his career. #Boxing

Ruiz’s last appearance in the ring dates back to his grueling rematch against Anthony Joshua in 2019, a bout that saw him lose his titles. Since then, fans have been eagerly anticipating his comeback, with hopes of seeing him back in action against some of the sport’s top contenders. However, despite assurances from Ruiz himself of a 2024 return, no concrete plans have been announced regarding his next fight.
The frustration among fans reached a boiling point when renowned boxing figure and IBHOF elector, Rick Glaser, expressed his concerns about Ruiz’s career trajectory. In a tweet, Glaser lamented Ruiz’s prolonged absence from the ring, stating that the 35-year-old boxer is “wasting his career” by not scheduling a fight despite nearly 19 months of inactivity.
Ruiz’s fans have been vocal in their support for the boxer, urging him to announce his next fight and return to the squared circle as soon as possible. Many believe that a potential matchup against Deontay Wilder could generate significant excitement and hype, providing Ruiz with the opportunity to prove his critics wrong and reignite his career.
But fans could soon expect it, since he also added, “I need to check out all the opponents and need to get ready. In 2024 is when it’s going to go down.”
Despite the criticism, Ruiz remains undeterred in his quest to return to the top of the heavyweight division. Following a successful surgery for a torn rotator cuff, Ruiz took to social media to thank his fans for their patience and support, assuring them that his setback is merely a “speed bump” on his journey back to glory.
