Arnold Barboza had an incredible night against Sean McComb.

He won a split decision on Saturday, April 20, teaming with Haney-Garcia and was cheered by the Brooklyn crowd at Barclays Center before the main event.

The result was not well received by those in attendance, and caught the attention of several fighters who had called out Barboza in the past, including Shakur Stevenson.

“Arnold Barbosa don’t mention my name,” Stevenson said on social media app X.

Another fighter who fought Barboza is former welterweight world champion Regis Prograis, who posted the following on Twitter. – Barbosa needs to do something to change this fight. He may have failed this time.

Stevenson responded to Prograis’ tweet on Twitter, revealing that he thought Barbosa was missing. When the split decision went in Barbosa’s favor, Stevenson got right to the point and simply said: “Side.”

Former IBF champion Billy Dib joined the conversation, saying the following: – Barboza needs to stop calling out guys like @ShakurStevenson and @TeofimoLopez. It did not reach this level.

Before facing McComb, Barboza said he would like to fight Shakur Stevenson in a welterweight fight. Stevenson is the WBC lightweight world champion and is looking to make a comeback in July.

Ashley’s thoughts:

Arnold Barboza’s victory over Sean McComb on April 20 at the Barclays Hall drew a great response from fans and opponents alike. Despite the split decision against him, Barboza’s victory drew mixed reactions from the public, sparking scrutiny and controversy within the boxing community.

In particular, Shakur Stevenson, a well-known person in the sport, took to social media to express his displeasure with Barboza’s actions, urging him not to mention his name in the discuss later. Stevenson’s comments highlighted the intensity of the boxing match and foreshadowed future fights between the two fighters.

The criticism didn’t stop there, as former welterweight world champion Regis Prograis also weighed in on the matter, saying Barboza needed to make some big changes after his fight with McComb. Progress’s comments added to the fire, highlighting the controversial nature of Barbosa’s victory and the impact on the future of his career.

In response to the allegations, Barboza reiterated his desire to face Stevenson in a welterweight bout, dismissing speculation of a potential fight between the two heavyweights. However, Stevenson’s status as the WBC lightweight world champion adds an interesting layer to the discussion, and has implications for both fighters’ prospects in the sport.

At a time when the boxing world is full of speculation and fantasy, Barboza finds himself at a crossroads, facing intense scrutiny from his peers and society at large. His choice to respond to criticism and challenges thrown by his opponents will undoubtedly shape his path in the sport and make his work even more important. Obviously, Barboza must navigate difficult boxing situations with skill and determination, and be able to engage and silence critics of his actions in the ring. Only time will tell how he handles this situation and cements his place among the sport’s top contenders.
