“Get to It or Die Trying”: Shakur Stevenson Stirs the Pot with Gervonta Davis Fight Challenge and Motivational Mantra

In the high-stakes world of boxing, where confidence and courage often collide, Shakur Stevenson is making waves with a bold declaration. Known for his relentless drive and no-nonsense attitude, Stevenson is ready to face off against the sport’s most electrifying fighter, Gervonta Davis. But the fight that fans are eagerly anticipating is yet to materialize, and Stevenson’s recent statements have added fuel to the fire.

A Clash of Titans: Stevenson vs. Davis

Shakur Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion, is brimming with determination as he awaits a potential showdown with Davis, the WBA titleholder and one of the division’s most formidable contenders. Despite a less-than-stellar performance in his recent bouts, including a tepid display against Artem Harutyunyan, Stevenson remains undeterred. He’s calling out Davis with a confidence that speaks volumes about his mindset.

In an exclusive interview with boxing legend Andre Ward, Stevenson was adamant about the fight’s inevitability. “Yeah, I know it’s going to happen,” Stevenson asserted. “I’m the best… he’s the best, so when you got two guys that are the best, how can you not fight?” His words underscore a deep-seated belief in his own abilities and a readiness to face the challenges ahead.

Behind the Scenes: Negotiations and Challenges

Adding weight to Stevenson’s assertion, his co-manager, Josh Dubin, revealed that they are prepared for negotiations. “We have our phone lines open, ready for a call,” Dubin said. “It’s a fight Shakur really wants. He’s been begging for it for a long time.” This statement highlights the eagerness on Stevenson’s side to make this high-profile match a reality.

However, the road to this blockbuster fight is not without hurdles. Gervonta Davis’s plans to face Ukrainian star Vasyl Lomachenko have hit a snag, as Lomachenko has expressed a desire to take a break from boxing. With this development, a bout against Stevenson seems like a logical next step for Davis. Yet, concerns about Davis’s waning pay-per-view appeal could be a factor in delaying the announcement.

Stevenson replied confidently, “Yeah I know it’s going to happen, I mean I’m the best… he the best, so when you got two guys that’s the best how can you not fight.”

To back up Stevenson’s statement, his co-manager, Josh Dubin reaffirmed that ‘Killer Kur’ is “waiting and ready to negotiate” and a financially viable offer is all that is needed to close the deal with ‘Tank’. “[We] have our phone lines open, ready for a call, and they have our numbers. It’s a fight Shakur really wants. He’s been begging for it for a long time,” Dubin asserted.

Stevenson’s Motivational Mantra

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Stevenson offered a motivational message that resonated with his fearless approach. “Get to it or die trying. Fear is fake. Don’t fear failure as long as you always give 110 percent. You can live with the results,” he wrote. This bold proclamation not only reflects his mental fortitude but also serves as a rallying cry for those facing their own challenges.

Stevenson opined, “Get to it or die trying. Fear is fake don’t fear failure long as u always give 110 percent u can live with the results.”

Alternative Plans: Stevenson vs. Zepeda

While the fight with Davis remains uncertain, another exciting prospect is on the horizon. The WBC has mandated Stevenson to defend his title against the mandatory challenger, Zepeda. Oscar De La Hoya, Zepeda’s promoter, has expressed a strong desire to make this fight happen. “I want to make that fight,” De La Hoya said. “Shakur, skill-wise, is probably the best fighter on the planet today.”

However, De La Hoya has also noted that Stevenson’s boxing style might not be the most crowd-pleasing, which could impact ticket sales. Despite this, he remains committed to making the bout a reality, underscoring the high stakes involved in Stevenson’s career.

“I want to make that fight. Shakur, skill-wise, is probably the best fighter on the planet today. “I think the only one that’s in the way of making that fight is me, but I’ll tell you one thing. I will make that fight,” De La Hoya confidently told FightHype.

Editor’s Value

Shakur Stevenson’s journey reflects the essence of modern boxing—where mental strength, strategic negotiations, and the quest for greatness intersect. His readiness to confront the best, coupled with his motivational message, illustrates the relentless drive that characterizes top athletes. Meanwhile, the ongoing negotiations and potential matchups highlight the intricate dynamics that shape the sport’s landscape.

As Stevenson continues to navigate these challenges, the boxing world watches closely, anticipating the next chapter in a career defined by bold aspirations and relentless pursuit of excellence.
