Floyd Mayweather’s Irresistible Offer: Shakur Stevenson Eyes Gervonta Davis Showdown

Shakur Stevenson, the prodigious WBC lightweight champion, is now a free agent following the conclusion of his contract with Bob Arum’s Top Rank. His recent victory over German Olympic Medalist Artem Harutyunyan on July 6 has positioned him as the most sought-after fighter in the boxing world. Promoters are lining up with lucrative offers, but one name stands out with an enticing proposition that could redefine Stevenson’s career: Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The Bidding War for Boxing’s Brightest Star

Top Rank’s $15 million offer might have been turned down by Stevenson, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg. Oscar De La Hoya and Eddie Hearn have also thrown their hats into the ring, eager to sign the Newark native. Despite the high stakes, rumors suggest that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has an ace up his sleeve that could secure Stevenson’s signature.

“the likes of Ryan Garcia”. Dispelling the notion, the host of Blue Blood Sports said, “Well, this is not true people, this is not true. He has an advisor, and he has a manager in the form of J Prince. But does he look at Floyd Mayweather for advice, absolutely.”

The Floyd Mayweather Connection

Boxing insider and YouTuber ‘Blue Blood Sports TV’ has been at the forefront of these rumors, providing insights into the potential collaboration. Dispelling earlier claims that Stevenson had officially brought Mayweather on as an advisor, the insider clarified that while Stevenson has his own advisory team led by J Prince, he does indeed seek advice from the five-division champ.

The Boxing insider added, “But now, I’ll tell you what – Floyd Mayweather has a deal on the table that he is offering Shakur Stevenson, I can tell you that. It’s a multi-fight deal that’s going to guarantee Shakur Stevenson gets a fight with Gervonta Davis at some point in time.”

The FaceTime Call that Sparked Speculation

A recent FaceTime call between Stevenson and Mayweather fueled speculation that ‘Sugar’ might join Mayweather Promotions. According to ‘Blue Blood Sports TV,’ this call led many to believe that Stevenson was leaning towards Mayweather’s camp instead of other top contenders like Matchroom or Golden Boy Promotions.

Stevenson stated, “It’s an option, for sure. I got nothing but respect and love for Floyd.”

Furthermore, the 22-0 boxer added, “At the end of the day, I wouldn’t mind working with Floyd as long as it makes sense, and it is a partnership type of thing. I appreciate Floyd.”

The Multi-Fight Deal and the Gervonta Davis Bait

The boxing insider dropped a bombshell: Mayweather has put forth a multi-fight deal on the table, with the crown jewel being a guaranteed fight against Gervonta Davis. “Floyd Mayweather has a deal on the table that he is offering Shakur Stevenson, I can tell you that. It’s a multi-fight deal that’s going to guarantee Shakur Stevenson gets a fight with Gervonta Davis at some point in time,” said the insider, quoting a source from Mayweather’s team.

A Dream Fight in the Making

For Stevenson, a clash with Gervonta Davis has been a dream. The Newark-based boxer has long expressed his desire to face Davis, and this deal could turn that dream into reality. Fans are already buzzing with anticipation at the prospect of this high-stakes showdown.

Stevenson’s Openness to Mayweather Promotions

Stevenson’s admiration for Mayweather is no secret. The two share a strong bond, with Mayweather even offering post-fight advice to Stevenson after his bout with Harutyunyan. During an appearance on the CigarTalk show, Stevenson addressed the possibility of joining Mayweather Promotions. “It’s an option, for sure. I got nothing but respect and love for Floyd,” he said.

A Potential Partnership

Stevenson emphasized that any collaboration would need to be a partnership. “At the end of the day, I wouldn’t mind working with Floyd as long as it makes sense, and it is a partnership type of thing. I appreciate Floyd,” he added. With Gervonta Davis having parted ways with Mayweather Promotions in 2022, there’s a prime spot open for Stevenson, who could benefit immensely from Mayweather’s tutelage.

The Boxing World Awaits

As the boxing community waits with bated breath, the question remains: Will Shakur Stevenson join forces with Floyd Mayweather Jr.? The prospect of a partnership that includes a fight against Gervonta Davis is tantalizing. Stevenson’s next move could shape the future of the lightweight division and offer fans one of the most exciting matchups in recent history.
