“He Needs a Lot of Help”: Caleb Plant Responds to Ryan Garcia for Dragging His Wife Into Their Beef
In the world of boxing, rivalries often extend beyond the ring, but there is an unspoken ‘gentleman’s code’ that dictates women and families should remain off-limits. Ryan Garcia, however, seems to have shattered this code yet again. Known for his brash comments, Garcia previously targeted former champion George Kambosos Jr.’s wife during their feud. Now, he’s set his sights on Caleb Plant’s wife, Jordan Plant, reigniting an already intense online battle.
The animosity between Garcia and the former super middleweight champion Caleb Plant has been simmering for a while. Recently, a reporter caught up with ‘Sweethands’ Plant at the MGM Grand Arena, where he was attending the Gervonta Davis vs. David Benavidez twin pay-per-view event. Plant hasn’t fought in over a year despite several near-miss opportunities, including a potential bout with Jermall Charlo following last year’s slap incident, and a public spat with Edgar Berlanga.
“I saw in social media today, obviously you and Ryan were going back-and-forth; does that make you feel alright, man, Ryan talking crazy and all that type of sh*t, or you just kind of letting it pass?”
When Words Sting at Home
During an interview with Naji from ‘Cigar Talk’, Plant was asked about his ongoing feud with Garcia, specifically the inflammatory tweets involving his wife. “I saw on social media today, obviously you and Ryan were going back-and-forth; does that make you feel alright, man, Ryan talking crazy and all that type of sh*t, or you just kind of letting it pass?” Naji asked.
Plant, visibly affected, responded, “Yeah, I mean, you know, somebody talking to just somebody talking about, you know, once you start talking about somebody’s wife and you know things like that matter… you know it kind of it makes it a little different.” He then suggested that Garcia might be in desperate need of help, adding, “So you know, at the same time he needs a lot of help, and he keeps it up… I’m sure he’ll get the help he’s looking for.”
Naji acknowledged the tension, suggesting Plant seemed ready for a fight. Plant clarified he wasn’t seeking a confrontation but wouldn’t back down if pushed. “I’m not looking for a fight, but I won’t be bullied either,” he stated firmly.
“Yeah, I mean, you know, somebody talking to just somebody talking about, you know, once you start talking about somebody’s wife and you know things like that matter… you know it kind of it makes it a little different,” he said.
The Genesis of the Feud
The online spat began when Plant questioned Garcia’s use of performance-enhancing drugs, prompting Garcia to lash out. Plant even quieted a fan who tried to defend Garcia. The escalation was swift, with Garcia firing back, “I’m going to hurt Caleb Plant physically,” followed by a comment on Plant’s wife, “Caleb Plant’s wife is beautiful; no disrespect.”
Garcia continued his provocation with a series of tweets, including, “Jordan Garcia, aka Jordan Plant,” and a Twitter Space titled “Jordan Plant is my wife.” He even challenged Plant’s response to the taunts, tweeting, “@SweetHandsPlant, I personally would never let someone speak about my woman like that, but that’s just me.”
He added, “So you know, at the same time he needs a lot of help, and he keeps it up… I’m sure he’ll get the help he’s looking for.”
“Jordan Garcia, aka Jordan Plant.” Another post showed a ‘Twitter Space’ recording titled “Jordan Plant is my wife.” Some half-an-hour later, Ryan Garcia wrote, “@SweetHandsPlant, I personally would never let someone speak about my woman like that, but that’s just me.“

Beyond Boxing: Ryan Garcia and Caleb Plant
The heated exchange between Garcia and Plant has captivated fans, who are now eagerly anticipating their next moves. With Garcia moving up to 154 lbs. to challenge Errol Spence Jr., the possibility of him stepping into the super middleweight category to face Plant remains speculative but tantalizing. Given Garcia’s unpredictable nature, fans wouldn’t be surprised if he called out ‘Sweethands’ for a ring fight.
Editor’s Take: Crossing Lines and Seeking Clarity
The incident raises important questions about the role of personal attacks in sports rivalries. While trash talk is an integral part of boxing, involving family crosses a line that can have lasting repercussions. Garcia’s comments about Plant’s wife have added a deeply personal dimension to their feud, making any future encounter between them not just a fight for supremacy but a battle for personal honor.
As these events unfold, the boxing community and fans alike are left wondering: will these confrontations lead to an official match, or will they simply remain as bitter exchanges on social media? The answer may lie in how both fighters choose to navigate their rivalry moving forward.
