Controversial Boxing Insider Laughs at the Expense of PBC’s Downfall
Are Premier Boxing Champions going under? It’s a difficult question to answer without having an insider’s knowledge about the matter. However, a controversial figure in the boxing community, Rick Glaser, seems to have the answer! It’s true, things haven’t looked good for the Al Haymon led company that started all the way back in March 2015.
Canelo Alvarez parted ways with the promotional company because of disagreements regarding the payouts and the quality of his opponents after his fight against Jermell Charlo last year in September. This was followed up by Terence Crawford cutting ties with the company, as his one fight deal expired after Errol Spence Jr. backed out of his rematch due to a cataract surgery. So, in a tweet dated 31 May, Glaser ripped into PBC’s current status in the sport.
Glaser wrote, “3 guarantees in life are death, taxes, & fighters fleeing PBC!!! Mass exodus of fighters fleeing the stranglehold of the invisible.”

Glaser hints at PBC’s eventual demise
Continuing his relentless attacks on the promotional company, Glaser wrote, “3 guarantees in life are death, taxes, & fighters fleeing PBC!!! Mass exodus of fighters fleeing the stranglehold of the invisible.” Yet this tweet was nothing compared to what Glaser had alleged in his previous tweets about the promotional company.
It’s worth mentioning that not too long ago PBC signed a multi-year deal with Amazon Prime to air live boxing matches after Paramount pulled the plug on Showtime Boxing. However, their first boxing event met with an unfortunate incident when Keith Thurman pulled out of the fight at the last minute and Sebastian Fundora was brought in to replace Thurman.
Glaser alleges the non-PPV events promised by PBC on Amazon Prime have become a pipe dream because, as Glaser sees it, PBC has run out of money to accomplish such an endeavor. And unless the company manages to bring in new investors, all future bouts will include a pay-per-view price tag attached.
To top it all off, the controversial boxing insider even alleged that the double header boxing event featuring Gervonta Davis and David Benavidez on June 15 will be Amazon Prime’s last boxing event regardless of the amount of cash the event manages to produce. However, it’s worth noting that neither PBC nor Amazon Prime have stepped up to confirm or deny any of this. Consequently, we’re left in the dark, awaiting the unfolding of events to shed light on the truth behind Glaser’s assertions.
