Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney: Father’s Startling Admission Amid Doping Allegations

Mid Outrage Over Failed Doping Tests, Ryan Garcia’s Father Makes Startling Confession About Son’s Fitness During Devin Haney Fight

Ryan Garcia was not in peak physical condition when he faced Devin Haney in one of the most critical matches of his career. Despite his impressive performance against ‘The Dream,’ Garcia struggled physically and had to push his limits to secure the win. This revelation comes amidst the swirling controversy of his failed doping tests.

Henry Garcia, Ryan’s father, discussed the situation in an interview with boxing veteran Shane Mosley. When asked by the former welterweight champion how comfortable his son looked against Haney, Henry admitted that Ryan wasn’t “totally” into his training. He compared this to the Oscar Duarte fight, where Ryan was more focused and prepared. Henry stated, “He seemed comfortable, Shane. But he wasn’t in shape. My son wasn’t in shape, a 100% for Devin.”

Before Garcia even entered the ring, his failure to make weight for the fight had already attracted attention. This misstep cost him $1.5 million, which he had to pay to Haney as a penalty. However, the weight advantage arguably added to his power during the bout. When asked if this was a premeditated strategy, Henry Garcia couldn’t provide a clear answer. “I don’t have the answer for that. I feel real bad, but I mean, I have to be honest.”

Henry further elaborated on Ryan’s performance, highlighting his inconsistent fighting pace against Haney. “My son was in better shape with Oscar Duarte than he was [against] Devin Haney. If you look at my son fighting Devin Haney, he only fought in spurs. He wasn’t consistent. He would fight, and then he would slow down,” he remarked, pointing out Ryan’s lumbering movements during the match. This shocking revelation starkly contrasts the results of his doping tests.

He said, “He seemed comfortable, Shane. But he wasn’t in shape. My son wasn’t in shape, a 100% for Devin.”

Henry Garica didn’t have any explanation. “I don’t have the answer for that. I feel real bad, but I mean, I have to be honest.”

“My son was in better shape with Oscar Duarte than he was [against] Devin Haney. If you look at my son fighting Devin Haney, he only fought in spurs. He wasn’t consistent. He would fight, and then he would slow down,” he added.

Garcia, who holds a 25-1 record, has faced severe criticism for alleged PED use after failing VADA tests. The tests detected a substance called Ostarine in his samples taken before and after the fight. However, Ryan has vehemently denied these allegations, describing the situation as a “witch hunt.” He has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence, accusing the Haney camp and promoter Eddie Hearn of setting him up. Amidst this controversy, Garcia has shifted his focus to a potential clash with Errol Spence Jr., following a heated exchange of words.

A Brewing Rivalry with Errol Spence Jr.

A fierce rivalry has been developing between Garcia and Spence Jr. in recent months, mainly due to Spence’s ongoing non-payment of fees to their trainer, Derrick James. The two fighters have frequently clashed on social media, hinting at a future confrontation in the ring.

Garcia expressed his frustration towards Spence Jr. in an interview with DAZN, declaring, “I need that. I’m going to take his head off… I’m going to finish the job like he’s not going to be like boxing anymore after he fights me.”

Meanwhile, Spence Jr. has been campaigning for a fight with Sebastian Fundora for the unified super welterweight title, following his announcement to move up in division. Garcia, on the other hand, has shown a willingness to move up in weight to fight Spence Jr., setting the stage for a potentially explosive matchup.

The Road Ahead

As the doping allegations continue to loom over Garcia, his father’s candid revelations about his fitness during the Haney fight add another layer of complexity to his situation. Whether Garcia will be able to clear his name and continue his career without the shadow of controversy remains to be seen. For now, the boxing world watches closely as these narratives unfold, anticipating the next chapter in Garcia’s tumultuous journey.
