Munguia’s Triumph in Defeat: Promoter De La Hoya Sees New Heights for Mexican Fighter!

In a heart-wrenching battle at the T-Mobile Arena, Jaime Munguia faced off against the formidable Canelo Alvarez, leaving it all in the ring. While the outcome saw Munguia’s first taste of defeat, the young Mexican fighter emerged with his head held high, earning the admiration of fans and experts alike.

Oscar De La Hoya, head of Golden Boy Promotions, took center stage at the post-event conference, showering praise on Munguia’s valiant effort. Drawing parallels to a pivotal moment in Canelo’s career, De La Hoya likened Munguia’s loss to Floyd Mayweather in 2013 to a transformative experience that could propel him to greatness.

He said, “I thought Jaime did excellent against the current face of boxing right now. I take nothing away from Canelo. I have always said he is a good fighter in the ring. But this experience for Jaime will take him to another level.”

Oscar De La Hoya gives his reaction to Canelo Alvarez beating Jaime Munguia at the post-fight press conference: “It’s just like Floyd Mayweather vs Canelo – Canelo got schooled and then he became the face of boxing.”

He added, “It’s just like Mayweather and Canelo. Same thing, you know. Canelo got schooled, and then he became the face of boxing. He became a good fighter.”

De La Hoya continued, “Same thing with Munguia. He gains experience. He didn’t get schooled. But he gains experience and becomes a better fighter. This is just the beginning for Jaime.”

Reflecting on Munguia’s performance, De La Hoya emphasized, “I thought Jaime did excellent against the current face of boxing right now.” He underscored the significance of the experience gained from facing a champion like Alvarez, foreseeing a bright future ahead for Munguia.

Alvarez declared, “He’s [Jaime Munguia] a great fighter, he’s strong, he’s smart… I’m glad I give Jaime this opportunity. He’s a great guy, great champion. He’s going to continue doing good.”

De La Hoya’s sentiments were echoed by Canelo Alvarez himself, who commended Munguia’s strength and intelligence in the ring. In a gracious post-fight interview, Alvarez expressed his respect for his fellow compatriot, acknowledging Munguia’s potential for continued success in the sport.

With his record now standing at 43-1, Munguia faces the challenge of regrouping and bouncing back stronger. Meanwhile, Alvarez, at 61-2-2, remains at the pinnacle of the boxing world, contemplating his next move in the ring.

As the dust settles on their epic showdown, the boxing community eagerly awaits the next chapter in both fighters’ journeys. With De La Hoya’s words of encouragement and Alvarez’s praise ringing in his ears, Munguia embarks on a new path, fueled by determination and a hunger for victory.
