Katie Taylor has a very good bid for a fight against Amanda Serrano, according to her promoter Eddie Hearn.

Taylor, 37, will defend her super lightweight title on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and she may consider her opponent to be  Chantelle Cameron.

In November, he avenged his one-and-a-half loss to Cameron, claiming a three-fight lead at the same time. The second bout against Cameron was expected to be the last of Taylor’s impressive career, but he surprisingly faced Serrano, a 35-year-old from Puerto Rico.

“MVP contacted us,” explained his promoter, Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn. – We talked about fighting somewhere, then they came up and said they wanted to work with the card, so we talked about money and fun, and we thought it was the right thing by Katie.

– Then we spoke to [broadcaster] DAZN and we were very grateful to them because they were very good at giving boxers such an opportunity and we agreed to give it. On Matchroom, on DAZN, a one-fight deal was agreed upon. I don’t have time to promote the show. But obviously I support Katie. For him, at this point in his career, this is the right thing to do.

– Only the financial side. It’s more money than the Chantelle Cameron fight, I think it’s a big stage – AT&T Stadium in Texas. I know this event will get a lot of attention. He fights one, but he has two fights in Ireland now. He could probably go back to Ireland.

– They both fight hard and if you watched the first fight with Serrano, you know what kind of fight they will have. Katie still has a long way to go. Serrano didn’t have many tough fights. Katie went to war with Chantelle Cameron twice. So, I think, it is.

Hearn was then asked if he expected a third fight with Cameron, and he said, “Yeah, I hope he fights them all.” He had to fight Serrano; [Alicia] Baumgardner. They were the only ones left to fight.

“I didn’t really talk to him about how much money he was going to get before he retired – I don’t know what he had. Four? five? He might say nine or ten.

–If he loses, [Cameron’s match may not be his last]. I don’t know.

Hearn was also asked later if he expected the Texas Boxing Commission to cancel the proposed and controversial fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, to which he replied: “Hopefully, not.

Ashley’s View:

Katie Taylor’s decision to face Amanda Serrano in a fight shows her ability to become a champion in the sport of boxing. Fired by his promoter Eddie Hearn, the reigning light heavyweight champion is preparing Taylor for a super-fight scheduled for July 20 at the famous AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Facing Serrano, a brave opponent from Puerto Rico, will give Taylor a great opportunity and a chance to showcase his skills on the international stage. Hearn explained that the offer to fight Serrano was a surprise, but after careful consideration and discussion with broadcast network DAZN, Taylor and his team decided to pursue the opportunity.

For Taylor, the decision wasn’t just a financial one, it was about making a statement and cementing her legacy as one of the greatest women’s boxers. Although originally scheduled for a match against Chantel Cameron, Taylor’s move to face Serrano speaks volumes for her desire to take on a new challenge and prove herself in the championships of top.

Hearn acknowledged the importance of this fight to Taylor’s career, saying it will be focused on the big stage at AT&T Stadium. While Serrano may not have faced as many tough opponents as Taylor, Hearn believes that Taylor’s experience in a tough fight with Cameron has prepared him for the challenges ahead.

Looking ahead, Hearn is optimistic about Taylor’s future, pointing to the possibility of a third fight with Cameron and another contender in the division. As Taylor continues to pursue excellence, his willingness to face tough challenges and pursue profitable opportunities has made him a true champion in boxing. Amid the allegations surrounding the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight, Hearn has expressed hope that the Texas Boxing Commission will not intervene and allow the Taylor-Serrano fight to go ahead as scheduled. As the anticipation and excitement grows, the Taylor vs. Serrano promises an exciting spectacle that fans won’t want to miss.
