Amanda Serrano’s Unwavering Dedication: Why Love and Family Can Wait

In the heart of Brooklyn, New York, amid the bustling cityscape, boxing sensation Amanda Serrano found solace on the rooftop of her apartment. Tending to her 70 pigeons, Serrano cherished these quiet moments, watching the birds glide from building to building. This serene activity provided a respite from her rigorous training sessions. However, Serrano has since left the vibrant streets of NYC, returning to her roots in Puerto Rico.

At 35, Amanda Serrano is celebrated as one of the greatest female boxers of all time. Her mantra, “It’s easy becoming a champion, but it’s hard maintaining that champion status,” underscores her commitment to her craft. Unlike many athletes who juggle successful careers and relationships, Serrano has chosen a solitary path. The question arises: why has this boxing titan opted to steer clear of romantic entanglements?

“I’ve seen fighters that have a boyfriend or they have a girlfriend and they’ll get into a fight with their partner, go to the gym and they won’t have the same performance that they had just a day before when their relationship was good.”

The Real Reason Behind Amanda Serrano’s Single Status

Despite her fame, Serrano’s personal life has remained relatively private, with no significant reports of relationships. In 2021, rumors swirled about a potential romance, but they lacked concrete evidence. Serrano’s love affair is not with a person but with her sport. She’s repeatedly stated her preference for a focused, undistracted life, shunning parties, large social circles, and even a personal phone. Her life revolves around boxing.

In an interview with The New York Post, Serrano explained, “I’ve seen fighters that have a boyfriend or they have a girlfriend and they’ll get into a fight with their partner, go to the gym and they won’t have the same performance that they had just a day before when their relationship was good.” This insight reveals her belief that relationships can hinder an athlete’s performance, a distraction she cannot afford.

Does Amanda Serrano Want a Family?

Serrano maintains a close-knit social group, primarily consisting of her sister Cindy Serrano and Cindy’s husband, Jordan Maldonado, who also serves as Amanda’s trainer. Her dedication to boxing is unwavering. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she declared, “I love boxing. I have given my life to this sport. No phone, no boyfriend, no parties. Just boxing.” As of now, she has not disclosed any plans for marriage or children, suggesting that such life changes might be considered post-retirement.

Serrano’s focus on her career has yielded remarkable results. She proudly shared, “I am the only boxer, male or female, from Puerto Rico to become undisputed champion. I am the only female boxer to have won titles in 7 divisions. I am the first female boxer, along with Katie to headline Madison (Square) Garden.” Her accolades are numerous, including being the first female boxer to earn seven figures from a fight and sponsorships, and the first undisputed female champion to fight 12×3 minute rounds.

She believes, “It’s easy becoming a champion, but it’s hard maintaining that champion status.”

The boxer further went on to write, “I am the only boxer, male or female, from Puerto Rico to become undisputed champion. I am the only female boxer to have won titles in 7 divisions. I am the first female boxer, along with Katie to headline Madison (Square) Garden.”

The Road Ahead: Serrano’s Upcoming Challenges

Despite her impressive achievements, Serrano’s ambition burns brightly. She believes that a relationship could divert her from her ultimate goals. Currently, she is preparing for a high-stakes bout against Stevie Morgan on July 20th at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. This match will feature as a co-main event alongside her promoter and friend, Jake Paul, who will face off against BKFC fighter Mike Perry.

Serrano’s primary objective, however, is her anticipated rematch against Katie Taylor in November. Taylor narrowly defeated Serrano in their first encounter in 2022, a loss Serrano is determined to avenge. Holding the record as a seven-division champion, Serrano aims to add another significant victory to her illustrious career.

Amanda Serrano’s journey is one of unyielding dedication and sacrifice. Her choice to forgo personal relationships highlights her commitment to boxing, a sport she has given her all. As she continues to chase greatness, Serrano’s story serves as a testament to the power of focus and the pursuit of one’s passion.
