Ring Magazine Pound-for-Pound Rankings Shake-Up: Naoya Inoue Surpasses Terence Crawford in Stunning Upset!

In the world of boxing, few accolades hold as much prestige as securing a spot on the coveted pound-for-pound list. And in a dramatic turn of events, Japanese sensation Naoya Inoue has emerged victorious in the battle for supremacy, dethroning Terence Crawford to claim the number one spot on Ring Magazine’s prestigious rankings.

In a thrilling showdown against Luis Nery at the Tokyo Dome, Inoue showcased his unmatched skill and determination, leaving spectators in awe and securing his position as the pound-for-pound king. Despite Crawford’s formidable reputation and impressive track record, it was Inoue’s stellar performance that ultimately convinced the judges of his rightful place at the top.

But the journey to the pinnacle of the pound-for-pound rankings was not without its share of controversy. As the boxing world eagerly awaited the unveiling of Ring Magazine’s top ten list, speculation ran rampant about who would emerge victorious in the highly anticipated battle between Inoue and Crawford.

Anson Wainwright, said, “Inoue gave his countrymen a scare in the first round but then went on to take Nery apart. To me it’s Crawford 1a and Inoue 1b [in the pound for pound rankings].”

He said, “I’m voting for Inoue as No. 1 P4P. Bud and [No. 3-rated Oleksandr] Usyk are [each] 4-0 this decade… I also thought the Nery win was one of his top-3 best performances. To get up and make immediate adjustments the way he did was insane.”

Montero said, “Originally, I was for keeping Bud at No. 1 and Monster at No. 2. However, just looking at activity, Crawford has fought 4X in four years and Inoue has fought EIGHT times in that span. He also went undisputed twice in one year.”

With Canelo Alvarez and Oleksandr Usyk also vying for top honors, the stage was set for a showdown of epic proportions. And when the final rankings were revealed, it was Inoue who emerged triumphant, cementing his status as the undisputed pound-for-pound champion.

But the decision was not without its detractors. As members of the Ring Magazine panel debated the merits of each contender, opinions were divided over whether Inoue’s victory was truly deserved. While some praised his flawless performance and unwavering dedication to the sport, others questioned whether Crawford had been unfairly overlooked.

In the end, it was Inoue’s remarkable resilience and unparalleled skill that won over the hearts of the judges, securing his rightful place at the pinnacle of boxing greatness. But as the dust settles on this historic moment, one question remains: will Inoue’s reign as pound-for-pound champion stand the test of time, or will Crawford reclaim his throne in a rematch for the ages?
